"We must go back to ourselves, and when we have joy and peace in ourselves our creations of art will be quite natural and they will serve the world in a positive way" - Thich Nhat Hanh
I can not remember a time when I did not draw or paint. When I was very little I remember it being a way to keep myself from being 'bored'. My grandmothers both kept pens and paper around for me, and my sister and brother to scribble on. I was always drawing, when I drew a picture it was more than that to me usually. It was a story in my mind and I would illustrate it, that way my thoughts came to life. My parents were very nurturing of my talents, as a teenager I would draw all over my bedroom walls and then painted a life size Batman on my brother's bedroom wall. I enjoyed my art classes in high school and the art club and in the evenings, rather than studying I would find myself drawing or sketching. I attended the Alberta College of Art for a year, but quit after realizing that wasn't the path I wanted to be on. I got married and for the last 19 years my favorite works of art have been my three amazing kids! However, as I find them needing me less and less the images in my mind get stronger and come to me more often. I am quite excited to begin this new chapter of more time for my artwork and so that is where you find me now!
